What is better than fresh fruit? Fresh fruit you've picked yourself! Out on the East End there are plenty of farms where you can pick fruits and vegetables straight off the trees and bushes.

At Patty's Berries and Bunches in Mattituck you can pick your own raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. At Wickham's Fruit Farm in Cutchogue, you can pick your own cherries, but make sure to head out in June for them, as cherry season is usually over around the Fourth of July.

In Wading River, Davis Peach Farm has been around for more than 100 years. It has nearly 100 varieties of peaches growing right at the farm. If peaches aren't your thing, you can choose from other summer fruits, such as nectarines and plums.

If you want to pick your own vegetables, head to Lenny Bruno Farms in Manorville. It features everything from tomatoes and peppers to eggplant and homemade pies.
