Vandals scribbled messages of hate across the walls of a Jewish center in Dix Hills Saturday night, police say, leaving community members stunned.
The graffiti, found by a congregant Sunday morning, read "Die Jews" and "[explicative] Judaism." Police believe it happened sometime after 9 p.m. Saturday night, and they say they found more nasty messages on nearby stop signs.
Community members say they're disgusted, and want to take action.
"I am flabbergasted," says neighbor Howard Eichenstein. "I'm going to try and do something about it ? maybe get a group of people together [to find the vandals]."
Another neighbor, Jessica Delpercio, is surprised, saying the community is very diverse.
"That's horrible, just horrible and a little scary, too - that people would do that around here," she said.
