A Central Islip man has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
Officials have charged Harry Tommy Patrick, of Central Islip, with eight counts of animal cruelty.
The Suffolk SPCA says it found seven adult pit bulls and one puppy living outside Patrick's Atlantic Street home.
News 12 Long Island has learned they were walking around in at least one-inch of their own feces and urine.
The dogs were suffering from Lyme Disease, ear infections and anemia. Police say some even had open sores on their paws.
The dogs are now being treated at the Veterinary Medical Center in West Islip and the Islip Animal Shelter.
