Habitat for Humanity helped a family take the first step toward making their dream of becoming homeowners a reality Thursday.
The organization is building a new three-bedroom home for the LaMarche family in Mastic Beach.
It is the 182nd home that Habitat for Humanity Suffolk has built. The lumber came from a local vendor and the volunteers are from the community, including students from the Habitat Club at Islip High School.
It's expected to take about 10 months to complete the new home.
