LOCAL WATER QUALITY

Every Thursday, there is an update to water quality at 30 sites around Long Island from The Gobler Laboratory at Stony Brook University. This week, the water quality is generalized as "fair," with 10 sites having good water quality, 13 having fair water quality and seven having poor water quality.

The main issue at the "poor" sites was harmful algal blooms that are harmful to marine life, but not humans. Reminder: check with the county health departments for more information on where swimming is permitted as well as more information.
