A great white shark that was tagged in Montauk on Tuesday has been named Paumanok.
Paumanok is a Native American word for Long Island and means "island or land that pays tribute."
Researchers with the marine organization OCEARCH say the name was submitted by Jonathan Mead, of East Northport.
