Great Neck opts out of 'high-risk' HS winter sports

Great Neck is the first school district to opt out of "high-risk" winter sports since Nassau County allowed them to return.
The district sent a letter to parents stating it would not resume sports such as basketball, wrestling and cheerleading "out of an abundance of caution."
Instead, the district will offer intramural activities. More details are expected next week.
Nassau announced earlier this week its plan to allow the "high-risk" winter sports to begin Monday, Feb. 1.
