Gov. Andrew Cuomo held a news briefing in New York Monday as Tropical Storm Isaias takes aim at the tri-state area and the region continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic.
BRIEFING NOTES:
-The governor discussed the latest numbers, noting they continue to trend in the right direction. Three lives were lost in NY yesterday.
-Cuomo discussed violations issued to NY bars and restaurants over the weekend for not following COVID-19 rules. He urged local law enforcement agencies to enforce the law.
-The governor discussed a waterway cruise/party boat that appeared to not follow social distancing guidelines.
-On schools, Cuomo says he'll make a determination later this week on whether schools will be reopened based on the infection rate and current data. He notes that schools are continuing to submit reopening plans for review, and says it's an ongoing discussion between the state, districts and parents.
-The governor criticized the federal response to pandemic.
