Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in New York State due to the weather.
A winter storm hit the state early this morning, which started out as snow and has turned into sleet and rain in some areas.
The storm is causing treacherous driving conditions and thousands of power outages. It also forced many schools to close or delay openings.
