Girl Scouts from Nassau and Suffolk helped gather school supplies for needy children with the Astoria Federal Savings 13th Annual Kids Tools For School Program.
"We're basically asking people if they need help," says Maribel Sabino from Troop 971 in Bellmore. "We gather supplies for them, get boxes so they know what they have and don't have."
Officials at Astoria Federal say donations start arriving at the beginning of August from generous members of the community.
