A 7-year-old girl thanked the doctors and nurses at Nassau University Medical Center who saved her life after she was burned last spring.
Frances Breen was rushed to NUMC by helicopter on Easter Sunday after the tip of her dress ignited while she was standing near a firepit.
Doctors say she suffered third- and fourth-degree burns on about 50 percent of her body. They say she kept a positive attitude throughout her 82-day stay at the hospital, even singing show tunes for the hospital staff.
Her family says while there is a long road ahead, they are thankful the tough part is behind them.
"I'm just going to do my best and just be confident," says Frances.
