Community members attended a fundraiser at Bellport Country Club last night to raise money and help two young children whose mother was murdered.
Elizabeth Hernandez, 33, was found dead in her basement apartment a week and a half ago. She left behind two children, who are four and seven years old.
Organizers of the event say they wanted to help take care of her children and raise awareness for domestic violence.
Police are looking for Cleon Brown, Hernandez's boyfriend, as a person of interest in the case. They say Hernandez had an order of protection against him and he had a history of violating it.
