LIRR to move 4 rush hour trains from Grand Central Madison to Penn Station starting Monday

Leaders for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority say it will be moving four rush hour trains over from Grand Central Madison to Penn Station starting Monday.
The announcement came during a news conference from the MTA as riders on the Long Island Rail Road are still complaining about lingering problems on their commute.
Four rerouted trains:
Morning – Peak Direction
The 5:42 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma to Grand Central Madison will shift to operate to Penn Station, where it will be scheduled to arrive at 6:55 a.m.
The 7:54 a.m. train from Long Beach to Grand Central Madison will shift to operate to Penn Station, where it will be scheduled to arrive at 8:44 a.m.
Morning – Reverse-Peak Direction
The 7:31 a.m. train from Grand Central Madison to Hempstead will shift to originate at Penn Station, at 7:30 a.m.
Afternoon – Peak Direction
The 5:28 p.m. train from Grand Central Madison to Babylon will shift to originate at Penn Station, at 5:28 p.m.
Four trains with added stops:
Four trains that currently originate at Brentwood will be extended to originate at Ronkonkoma, and will also stop at Central Islip.
The 5:16 a.m. train from Brentwood to Penn station will now have added Ronkonkoma and Central Islip stops leaving Ronkonkoma at 5:06 a.m.
The 5:48 a.m. train from Brentwood to Penn station will now have added Ronkonkoma and Central Islip stops leaving Ronkonkoma at 5:38 a.m.
The 6:03 a.m. train from Brentwood to Penn station will now have added Ronkonkoma and Central Islip stops leaving Ronkonkoma at 5:53 a.m.
The 7:57 a.m. train from Brentwood to Penn station will now have added Ronkonkoma and Central Islip stops leaving Ronkonkoma at 7:47 a.m.
Riders say there is always room on the Grand Central Madison trains, but the ones to Penn Station are packed.
"Penn is always full, Grand Central is not full so I can always find a seat when I am on my way over there where I stand here," says Sarahi Guaman, of Deer Park.
The MTA said it is adding more stops on Ronkonkoma trains to relieve some of the transfers at Jamaica. Four trains that currently originate at Brentwood will be extended to originate at Ronkonkoma and will also stop at Central Islip.
"I remain confident that we're on the right path for Long Island," says MTA Chairman and CEO Janno Lieber.
Since the rollout of full Grand Central Madison service, the MTA added back some cars to the busier rush hour trains since the biggest issue has been overcrowded trains.
The LIRR is making changes almost daily with new schedules.
Starting Thursday, the train that previously stopped at Elmont-UBS Arena at 8:16 a.m. will be replaced with a Grand Central Madison-bound train, leaving eight minutes earlier.
Commuters should check the MTA TrainTime app for possible changes.
