Frigid conditions continue across LI
The extreme cold across Long Island will be sticking around through the end of the week.
Temperatures Thursday night are expected to reach only 16 degrees. Forecasters say Friday morning snow showers are possible.
Experts say the wind chills can cause frostbite in under a half-hour and it can be dangerous for homeless people across the area.
The cold conditions have prompted county officials in both Nassau and Suffolk to open warming centers. Anyone that sees a homeless person struggling to get warm is also urged to call the Department of Social Services.
