Friends and family of a Brentwood man are trying to get criminal charges against him dropped.
A rally was held outside the Suffolk County courthouse in Riverhead Tuesday morning for Devon Toney.
The 44-year-old is one of four people arrested on Aug. 30 at Ross Memorial Park in Brentwood.
Two officers trying to break up a crowd of about 30 people in the park were assaulted.
Toney's partner says they were in the park feeding the homeless and didn't hurt anyone.
"His bail is ridiculous, it's $500,000," said Latoya Bazmore, Toney's partner. "He hurt no one. He did nothing to no one. And they've had him locked up for three weeks now."
Toney faces numerous charges, including resisting arrest and assault.
