A Franklin Square nonprofit is holding a garage sale this weekend to pay for home improvement projects for people with disabilities.
The group Rescuing Families says its mission is to help make people's lives easier by adding accessible features, like ramps, to homes.
The nonprofit's next projects will be a home in Valley Stream and the Franklin Square VFW.
"My wife and myself, our parents grew up with disabilities. Our dads were Vietnam War vets, my wife's dad was a Korean war vet. They were disabled from a young age...and then they have sadly passed away recently, so we wanted to continue helping families that were struggling like ours," said Vincent Centauro, founder of Rescuing Families.
The garage sale will be open again on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rescuing Families new location at 983 Lewiston Street in Franklin Square.
