A former teacher's aide at Westbury Middle School is accused of raping a student.Police say 23-year-old Ned Barnes, of Brentwood, had sex with a 14-year-old girl twice in his car last month and once in an empty classroom. Det. Lt. Kevin Smith said after the relationship seemed to cool, the student either felt angry or neglected and reported the relationship to school officials.A man who said he is a cousin of Barnes told News 12 Long Island that the charges are false and the student was looking for revenge. The cousin claims Barnes told the girl that she would not able to participate in the school's talent show if she did not attend a practice.Parents of students at the school say they aren't surprised by the allegations. They say there are numerous issues at the school and things need to be fixed.Barnes has pleaded not guilty to rape and other charges. He is being held on $75,000 cash bail.
