A former Disney star is joining forces with a local lawmaker to save a VFW hall in Brentwood.

Brock Pierce is working with Rep. Andrew Garbarino and veterans to keep the doors open. Post 64-31 has been struggling in the pandemic after losing several members to COVID-19. Pierce is known for his role in Disney's "The Mighty Ducks" movie.

The hall also desperately needs repairs. Veterans say the VFW is worth fighting for.

"Without the VFW who's going to care for those guys coming home," says retired Marine Major Chuck Kilbride. "That's what it's all about. Taking care of one another, and the VFW has always done a great job with it."

Officials say the Brentwood VFW needs a new roof and interior upgrades.
