A brand new food pantry has been approved in Babylon, but not everyone is happy about it.

The Christ Episcopal Church got the green light from the village of Babylon to open up its doors to people and families in need.

However, there is some opposition from surrounding neighbors who are concerned about the traffic and the people it will attract.

They are also concerned about their property values going down. Church officials disagree, saying that their program will be similar to others in the area. They also say that there won't be any more traffic than their other programs or Sunday services.

The church is still setting up before it opens its doors to what it estimates will be 30 to 50 people on Monday nights beginning in the next few weeks.

The village zoning board determined in May that the church did not need its permission to operate the kitchen because it's a religious institution.
