The prom has always been an excuse for teens to abuse alcohol, but many students say underage drinking is a year-round affair.
Police say there are many ways teens get access to alcohol, including fake ID?s and stealing from parents. However, police say the most troubling is parents who are willing to provide alcohol to their children.
Garden City High School officials say they have taken steps to reduce drinking at this year?s prom, including prohibiting limos. Officials put a lot of the responsibility on parents to ask their children where they?ve been and what they?ve been doing. Police also say that if parents smell alcohol on their children, they should find out how and where it was obtained.
