Floral Park residents say there is a rat infestation in their village.
They tell News 12 they have seen the rat problem worsen recently because of construction on a stairwell from the Long Island Rail Road Third Track project located close to their homes.
Homeowners say they want the village and the LIRR to do something about the rats.
"It's not a good way to live, it's not healthy, it's not comfortable," says Janet D'Amore. "I don't sleep because I'm worried about rats running all over the house."
Officials for the Village of Floral Park tell News 12 they are working with exterminators and the LIRR to figure out where the rats are coming from and are attempting to fix the problem.
