Last weekend's storms caused significant damage to the firehouse in St. James, according to the fire department there.
Torrential rain flooded various areas along the North Shore on Saturday, and the firehouse was no exception.
Rising water damaged computers and office supplies, says Commissioner Ed Springer. It also destroyed carpets and Sheetrock.
The damage has slowed office and administrative work at the station.
Officials are hoping insurance will cover the damage, but the fire department is also asking local politicians to help secure grants for repairs.
In the meanwhile, Springer says the department will use work trailers, and the department is still responding to emergencies.
