Five years after one of the deadliest plane crashes in U.S. history, loved ones gather at the site of the crash to memorialized those lost.American Airlines Flight 587 was headed from JFK to the Dominican Republic when it crashed in Belle Harbor, Queens. All 260 passengers on board were killed. The crash also took the lives of five people on the ground. Now, a beachfront memorial wall stands at Beach 116th street with every victim's name inscribed into the granite. The exact placement of the memorial caused some controversy. It was built on the beach, a couple of blocks from the actual crash site. Some residents of the area preferred it be built elsewhere. Families say the big beachfront memorial gives them what they've wanted for five years, a place to mourn and celebrate those they lost.
