A new tick species is creeping closer to Long Island.
The longhorned tick has been found in Staten Island for the first time.
City health officials say it has also been detected in Westchester and New Jersey.
Doctors say longhorned tick bites can make humans very sick, with prolonged health problems, including cognitive damage.
They can also transmit disease to livestock and wild animals.
