(04/01/08) DEER PARK ? The fireworks that injured dozens of people at a professional wrestling event in Orlando, Fla., Sunday night were manufactured by Deer Park-based Zenith Pyrotechnology.
According to investigators, a cable holding the fireworks display reportedly snapped and sent burning embers showering down on the crowd at the Wrestlemania show at the Florida Citrus Bowl. More than 40 people were injured, three seriously enough to be taken to the hospital.
?We?re investigating the incident and doing everything we can to find out why it happened and to make sure it never happens again,? read a statement by WWE, Wrestlemania?s organizer.
News 12 Long Island?s attempts to get a statement from Zenith Pyrotechnology have been unsuccessful.
