The Town of Brookhaven confirmed Friday that the Fire Island Beach Hotel in Ocean Bay Park has been ordered to close.
The Fire Marshal says despite efforts to work with the property owners since early 2020 on violations of both the state fire code and the town fire prevention codes, violations still exist.
Failure to fix the problems resulted in the town issuing a cease-and-desist order.
According to the Fire Marshal, the Division of Fire Prevention will continue to work with the owner so that the hotel can reopen as soon as possible.
