A massive overnight fire has caused a travel nightmare for a popular vacation spot for many Connecticut residents Saturday.
A fire broke out at the Harborside Inn around midnight.
It has led to a state of emergency for the island, as power is out on the and there is limited water available.
As a result, the Block Island Ferry had to modify its schedule. It has been suspended for same-day round trips.
Those with online tickets for Saturday will be automatically refunded.
According to the ferry's website, people with a vehicle reservation for Saturday will be accommodated.
Newport high-speed ferry departures have been canceled and traditional ferries in both directions are running a revised ferry schedule.
Morning departures for the Pt. Judith high-speed ferry were canceled, but service resumed Saturday afternoon.
Ferry service is expected to be running on schedule on Aug. 20, according Block Island Ferry.
