The New York State Division of Parole denies it had any knowledge that a convicted sex offender was living in the same building as an Islip Terrace day care center.
Raheem Dupree was arrested Thursday after the Suffolk County Sheriff?s Department caught him in violation of his parole.
The New York State Division of Parole told News 12 Long Island that there was no day care center or any children around when it approved the home in Nov. 2007. State records show the home was registered as a day care the next month by the Office of Children and Family Services.
The parole division went on to say there were no indications a day care center was being run out of the house during home visits by parole officers. It said offices hadn?t checked the basement, where the day care center was located.
Parents for Megan?s Law representative Laura Ahearn says OCFS should have fingerprinted Dupree before registering the home as a day care center. OCFS says it is looking into whether that happened.
