A financial planner who stole millions of dollars from older Long Islanders will be sentenced today.
Steven Pagartanis pleaded guilty in 2018.
Pagartanis targeted older people, many of whom lost substantial portions of their life savings as a result of a Ponzi scheme.
Pagartanis admits he scammed more than a dozen victims out of more than $8 million.
The East Setauket man took the money over the course of 18 years.
Pagartanis is required to pay back more than $3.5 million in restitution.
His plea deal calls for a 15-year prison sentence.
