Last-minute preparations are underway ahead of tomorrow's massive New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square.
For the first time ever on New Year's Eve, officials say 65 sanitation trucks will be used to block intersections. The trucks weigh 20 tons and will be filled with 15,000 tons of sand to prevent truck attacks like those in Berlin and France.
In addition to the trucks, there will be 7,000 officers on hand, including counterterrorism units and bomb-sniffing dogs.
The measures are aimed at protecting the nearly 2 million revelers expected.
NYPD Chief James O'Neill says, "People will be safe this New Year's Eve because we're there, along with our law enforcement partners. We're going to have one of the most well-policed, best-protected events at one of the safest venues in the entire world."
The NYPD says it has removed trash bins and mailboxes, done sweeps of hotels and parking garages and sealed manhole covers.
If you're headed in to the city, officials say large bags, umbrellas, coolers or backpacks are all banned in Times Square.
