A new athletic field in the Shoreham-Wading River School District will be named for a football player who collapsed and died on the field.
The field will be named in honor of Thomas Cutinella.
As News 12 has reported, the 16-year-old student died after an on-field collision during a game last fall. The team retired his No. 54 and went on to win the county title in Cutinella's honor.
The school says it hopes to have the field ready before the end of the season.
