A Suffolk police chief has been cleared of abuse.

The FBI has officially closed its investigation into Police Chief James Burke. Federal investigators were called in after a suspect, Christopher Loeb, claimed Burke roughed him up in an interview room.

Loeb is accused of breaking into Chief Burke's personal car. He is currently awaiting a trial in that case.

The new development could limit Chief Burke's testimony in the case.
