The FBI arrested a Roosevelt Catholic priest at his home Friday, charging him with possessing more than 1,300 pictures and videos of underage boys.
Thomas Saloy was serving at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary when investigators say they found child pornography on his personal computer. Although Saloy pleaded not guilty, prosecutors claim at the time of his arrest he admitted to not only willfully obtaining the material, but also to enjoying it. Prosecutors say Saloy asked a 15-year-old boy in an AOL chat room for a picture. The boy turned out to be an undercover detective.
Diocese of Rockville Centre representatives confirm Saloy has been placed on administrative leave. Saloy was place on suicide watch at Mercy Medical Center and faces up to 10 years behind bars, if convicted. Saloy's attorneys say the priest has never had any physical or electronic contact with minors.
