A Bay Shore man made an emotional plea today for help finding the hit-and-run driver who killed his brother four years ago.
Joseph Santiago was struck and killed near the corner of Ridgeway Avenue and Main Street in Setauket. Police are yet to make an arrest in the case.
Santiago’s family believes he was out for a late night run back in August 2013 and was just several minutes from his home. A LIPA worker found the 47-year-old lying in the street
Freddie Eddins says his brother loved children, sports and always had a smile on his face. Now, even though several years have gone by since his tragic death, Joseph's heartbroken family still believes that someday they will have some sort of closure and justice.
"Always hoping that one day someone will come forward, that's it, that's all we hope for.... keep hope alive," says Eddins.
The family says they are meeting with the detective on the case hoping to make some progress. Police believe the vehicle involved was a white 1999 to 2006 Hyundai sedan with possible front end damage on the passenger side or undercarriage. Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
