News 12 has learned one of the victims in the New Orleans truck attack is a Long Island native.

Family confirms that Matthew Tenedorio who was born in Mineola and grew up on Long Island before moving to Louisiana was among at least 15 killed and dozens injured when a truck drove through New Year’s celebrations.

According to family members, he grew up in Huntington.

The FBI has now released a photo of the suspect Shamsud Din Jabaar.

The agency says police shot and killed the 42-year-old after the two sides exchanged gun fire.

The incident is being investigated as an act of terrorism.

The FBI does not believe Jabaar acted alone.

President Joe Biden said Jabbar posted a video indicating he was inspired by the Islamic State, adding that he expressed a "desire to kill."

A military spokesperson says Jabbar was in the Army for 13 years.

On Long Island, Nassau police say they are working with federal and state law enforcement to monitor the situation.

They say there are no threats to the county and that their alertness is high.

Suffolk police are saying the same, adding there is already an increased police presence due to the holidays.
