Officials say a family in Deer Park is homeless after a fire ripped through their home Monday night.
In video obtained by News 12, massive flames can be seen consuming the West Fourth Street home around 5:30 p.m.
Seven people live in the home, and two were inside at the time of the fire. Everyone, including two dogs, safely made it out of the house.
Fire officials initially thought Christmas lights were to blame for the fire, but they now say it looks like old aluminum wiring inside the home is to blame.
Anna Stoloff, the woman who has owned the home since 1981, told News 12 Long Island that she is losing her finance job at Dowling College as the school prepares to close. Neighbors say they have started an online fundraiser to help the family recover.
