Family and friends gathered Saturday to say their final goodbyes to Khaseen Morris – the teen who was fatally stabbed during a brawl in Oceanside last week.
The Oceanside High School student, born in Mineola, was stabbed during the brawl outside of a pizza parlor. The disturbing violence was captured on cellphone video.
Police have arrested eight teens so far in their investigation into Morris’ death.
Jessifer Collado, a friend of Morris’ since the seventh-grade, told News 12 that he was “always a positive person.”
"I'm crying now. He wouldn't want to see us crying," she said.
Morris' sister, Keyanna, says her brother was a fun-loving kid who went out of his way to stick up for someone that was being bullied.
"He was loved and he was loving,” she said. “He obviously wanted to share a message with the world that…you don't always have to be mean to people. You can be kind. He was amazing."
In an act of solidarity, some of Khaseen's friends and family wore tie-dye shirts during Saturday’s services. He would have turned 17 on Oct. 24.
