A Miller Place family says they are outraged that the driver accused in the hit-and-run death of their loved one two years ago still has not been punished.
It's been almost a year since Christopher Campbell was charged in the hit-and-run death of Tracy Mangino in Miller Place back in 2014.
Mangino was walking on North Country Road when prosecutors say she was hit by a truck that never stopped. She was just 100 feet from the home she shared with her teenage daughter, Serena.
The crime carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. Last fall, News 12 reported that Campbell turned down a plea deal of two to six years.
"Today, he was going to plead to six months and five years' probation, which is a slap on the wrist," said the victim's father, Michael Mangino.
Campbell's attorney would not comment if a deal was offered. He is due back in court next month.
