The fallout continued Thursday after a PTA leader was ousted over threatening posts about President-elect Joe Biden.
The social media post, made by Nicole Zimmermann, of Medford, said, "I will never respect Biden or Harris. I know what kind of people they are for. I hope they shoot him."
The former PTA vice president at Brookhaven Elementary School made the comments not long before supporters of President Donald Trump broke into the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.
Now, some are saying that Zimmermann's comments are a prime example of the damage that can be done when leaders incite violence.
"To have people who are in a leadership role related to our public schools with this kind of ideology is very dangerous," says Elaine Gross, with the group ERASE Racism.
The comments drew harsh criticism from the South Country School District and the Board of Education, leading Zimmermann to later resign from her position with the PTA.
At this point there's no word of any criminal charges being filed against Zimmermann, but Suffolk police say they are investigating.
