The story of a Navy SEAL from Patchogue, who sacrificed his own life to save others, has been transformed into a movie.

"Lone Survivor" is the heroic story of four Navy SEALs who were deep behind enemy lines on a mission to kill or capture a high ranking member of the Taliban. The movie premiered in Ronkonkoma Monday.

Early in the mission the team is compromised when they are discovered by a pair of goat-herders. Faced with the moral dilemma of whether or not to kill the innocent Afghans, the SEALs followed the lead of their commanding officer Lt. Michael Murphy and set the herders free.

Murphy's father says his son's deep sense of honor came from growing up on Long Island.

The movie features Taylor Kitsch who plays Murphy, and Mark Wahlberg who plays his best friend, Marcus Lutrell.

Lt. Murphy was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic actions. "Lone Survivor" opens to a national audience on Jan. 10.
