Are you looking to plan a fun-filled family weekend?  From pumpkin-picking and petting zoos to fall festivals - get your calendar ready! Here's some help with our family festival guide! All events and times are subject to change, please check before heading out.

Dockside Family Festival
Where: Captree State Park (Exit 40 off the Robert Moses Cswy.) in Babylon
When: Saturday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 10
Time: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Info: It's a family fun festival! You'll find nautical-themed events like crab races, and more fun like magic shows, pony rides, and boat rides. There's also an interactive pirate show.

Bellmore Family Street Festival  
Where: Bellmore Village  
When: Sept. 14-17
Time: 11 a.m.-6 p.m. 
This year the festival is featuring: Gorilla Show and Ironman, Kids Expo (featuring child-friendly rides and a chance to visit Rex the Dinosaur), Craft Expo, Military Expo (featuring the latest attractions from all branches of the military),Veterans organizations and service groups, Sports Expo (with representation from local and tri-state sports organizations), Health and Wellness members and flu shots, Home Improvement Expo (showcasing local contractors and members), Live music all day throughout the fair

Deepwells Music Festival
Where: Deepwells Farm County Park, Moriches Road and Route 25a in Saint James, NY
When: Saturday, Sept. 16
Time: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Info: The concert will feature three recording artists as well as some local talent. Featured acts include Durham County Poets, Matt Nakoa and Spuyten Duyvil. Admission is $5 and there will be plenty of food and drinks available, so bring your lawn chairs and your appetite.

Port Jefferson Dragon Boat Race Festival
Where: Port Jefferson Harborfront Park 101A East Broadway Port Jefferson
When: Saturday, Sept. 16
Time: 8 a.m.-6 p.m. 
Info: There will be Asian and Cultural Entertainment, food, non-profit organizations, and retail booths. Races will be all day with opening and closing award ceremonies.

Cow Harbor Day 
Where: Main Street in Cow Harbor in Northport
When: Sunday, Sept. 17
Time: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. 
Info: Food, rides and games, a parade at noon and boat races at 2 p.m. all make for a fun family day in Northport that parents and kids will enjoy. Admission is free, all rides are individual tickets (approximately $4-$5 a ride).

Long Island Garlic Festival -  Yes, there's even a "Stinky Garlic Breath Competition"
Where: Garden of Even Farm at 4558 Sound Ave. in Riverhead
When: Sept. 16-17
Time: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Info: Get ready for garlic-inspired foods, Long Island wine, local and organic picks, and a lot of garlic to eat or plant! Children under 6 are free.

Fit Fest
Where: Long Beach
When: Sept. 16 & Sept. 17
Info: Flex on the Beach, a f
unctional fitness (another word for CrossFit) competition with co-ed teams of four competing, is on Sept. 16. NY Fit Fest, a first time EVER fitness festival on the beach in New York, on Sept. 17, with a lineup of over 30 different fitness professionals and influencers teaching classes and holding lectures in the sand. There will also be over 30 Fitness and Wellness Vendors on site, DJ, and Giveaways from BMW and lululemon.
Village Day Fall Festival
Where: Sands Point Preserve at 127 Middle Neck Road in Sands Point

Wildwood Fall Festival
Where: Wildwood State Park at 790 Hulse Landing in Wading River
Sept. 23
Time: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Info: Make sure your kids come hungry because this Fall Festival has a donut eating contest for kids!  You can also find wagon rides, pony rides,a magic show and more.

Old Bethpage Village Restoration
1303 Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage
Sept. 16-17 & Sept. 23-24
Time: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Get ready for acrobatic attractions at this Fall Festival!  You can find an acrobatic dual trampoline show, juggling and a performance by an aerialist.  There's also family-friendly fun like a carousel, petting zoo, camel rides, sack races and corn husking contest, butterfly exhibit and high dive show, plus a riding demonstration by Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders and a game of old-time "baseball."

East End Maritime Festival
Where: Village of Greenport

When: Saturday, Sept. 23 & Sunday, Sept. 24
Time: Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This festival is focused on the sea- You can find boat tours, story times, nautical demonstrations, live music, and more. Opening day parade starts at 11 a.m. Sept. 23 and runs down Main Street to Front Street.

Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off & Fall Harvest Competition
Where: Hicks Nurseries, 100 Jericho Tpke. in Westbury
When: Sunday, Oct. 1
Time: 11 a.m.

Info: Everyone is invited to participate in this exciting competition, which not only includes giant pumpkins but additional categories for large, unique and decorated vegetables. In addition to awards for the three heaviest pumpkins, new categories include “Best Decorated Vegetable,” “Coolest Giant Vegetable or Flower” and “Best Fall Bouquet.” All children who enter will be awarded a certificate of participation. Contestants who need to have their pumpkins unloaded must be at the nursery no later than 10 a.m.

Westhampton Beach Oyster Festival
Where: Westhampton Beach Marina at 1 Library Ave.
When: Saturday, Oct. 7
Time: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Info: Get ready for oysters! You'll find lots to eat -including a chowder contest.  There's an interactive pirate show, treasure hunts, and sword-fighting lessons.  You can also jump in the bounce houses, get your face painted, or try pumpkin painting.

Long Island Fall Festival
Where: Heckscher Park at Prime Ave. and Main St. in Huntington

Big Rig Truck Show 
Where: Pennysaver Ampitheater at  Bald Hill at 55 S Bicycle Path in Farmingville
When: Sunday, Oct. 8
Time: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

South Shore Classic (Bluefish & Striped Bass) Surf Fishing Tournament
Where: Captree State Park in Babylon

When: Oct. 13-Oct. 15
Time: 12 p.m. Friday through 12 p.m. Sunday
Info: All fish must be hooked and landed from the beach, surf, jetty, bank, or pier within the legal boundaries of the Jones and Moriches Inlets. The minimum qualifying weight sizes are: Bluefish – 5lb. and Striped Bass – 36 inches. Captree Bait, Tackle & Fuel at Captree State Park in Babylon will remain open all day and night for the duration of the contest to weigh the entries. All fish must be weighed and recorded by 12 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Registration will be accepted by mail until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 to South Shore Classic, PO Box 247, Babylon, NY, 11702; and in person until 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Captree Fuel, Bait & Tackle. Children’s Workshop: Decorate a House for Otto
Where: Hicks Nurseries, 100 Jericho Tpke. in Westbury
When: Friday, Oct. 13
Time: 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. sessions
Info: Children will create a house out of candy for Otto! We will supply the house and all of the candy and icing. Reservations are required. Cost is $15.00 per child.

Newsday's Flick and Treat Festival
Where: 235 Pinelawn Road in Melville (Ruland Road entrance)

Time: Gates open at 3 p.m.; movie starts at sundown
It's time to pair and movie with costumes and candy! Newsday's free annual fall Flick and Treat Festival features an outdoor movie, a costume contest and and safe trick-or-treating. There's even a pumpkin patch.

Oyster Festival
Where: Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park on West End Ave. in Oyster Bay

Come hungry! Features Check out carnival rides, pirate shows, a zoo attraction, midway rides, vendors, live entertainment, an oyster eating/ shucking contest, soccer clinics (ages 5-14), fast shot lacrosse challenge, NY Islanders booth, a food court and more; rain or shine.

Huntington Historical Society's Apple Festival

The Huntington Historical Society hosts this annual autumnal celebration.  You can take a step back in time and try traditional games, scarecrow-making and listen to traditional music.

Pet Parade & Costume Competition
Where: Hicks Nurseries, 100 Jericho Tpke. in Westbury
When: Wednesday, Oct. 18
Time: Parade at 5 p.m.; Costume competition at 6 p.m.

Info: Bring your pets to Hicks Nurseries for our second annual Pet Parade! Travel down a decorated path to meet Otto the Ghost. You’ll also have the opportunity to enter your pet in our Pet Costume Competition! Please help support Long Island Pets by bringing pet food, new toys, cat litter, leashes and other items to donate to Long Island Cares for pets in need in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Pumpkin Park at Adventureland
Where: 2245 Broadhollow Road in Farmingdale

Time: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Info: Fall fun at Adventureland wouldn’t be complete without Pumpkin Park! This annual family fun event has been a landmark event on Long Island for over 20 years. Pumpkin Park is a free two-day fall family event. Family friendly vendors set up throughout the park and when children enter, they are given a treat booklet filled with coupons to redeem at each vendor table in exchange for candy, treats, and giveaways. It is free to participate in Pumpkin Park, and parking is free as well. The rides are open at regular price and we encourage our guests to dress in costume. Halloween at Walt Whitman Birthplace Site

Hicks Nurseries Fall Festival

Info: Enjoy a hayride, live farm animals, a pumpkin contests and more. Fall Farm Festival

Fink's Country Farm Fall Festival

Brightwaters Farms Fall Harvest

Spooky Fest!

This one is perfect for young kids who want a not so spooky halloween experience at night. You can take a "Not-So-Spooky Walk" in the woods, check out the Halloween Theater or take part in arts and crafts.  If you are looking for a scare they have that here too in the "Haunted Woods" and "Maze of Zombies."

Great Jack-O'-Lantern Spectacular Sail

BOGO at Adventureland

Info: The park closes for the season the last weekend in October, and will reopen at the end of March 2018. Adventureland’s celebrates our last weekend of operation in 2017 with a Buy One Get One Free deal on Pay One Price bracelets. When you buy one POP band at full price, you get the second one free. All Adventureland asks for in exchange for this BOGO deal is a donation of canned food for the Helping Hands Foundation’s food drive. Both POP bands must be used on the same day, and both riders must be present at the ticket booth at the time of purchase.

Animated Children’s Story Featuring Otto the Ghost

Special Food Drive Info: Helping Hands has donated thousands of toys, school supplies, and food all over Long Island. This fall. help us continue to assist Long Islanders in need! The Helping Hands Foundation is collecting nonperishable food for two local pantries (The Town of Babylon Food Pantry and Long Island Harvest). Last year, our foundation created over 100 Thanksgiving Baskets for a Long Island pantry, and this year the goal is to double that number! Items like canned food, gift cards, water bottles and more will be accepted at the Ticket Booth weekends and holidays throughout September and October. Donors will receive a free giveaway. Barnyard Adventure at Harbes Family Farm
Where: 715 Sound Ave. in Mattituck
When: Mon.-Thurs. from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Fri.-Sun. from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Info: Families can enjoy the Barnyard Adventure until Tuesday, Oct. 31. Friday to Sunday get ready to sing! Kids will enjoy singing hayrides and pig races Friday to Sunday and on holidays too. There's also a petting zoo, and a gnome-themed hedge maze.
