Faith-based organizations in the Bronx are stepping forward to help human trafficking and domestic violence victims.

As part of the Not On My Watch campaign, faith communities are being trained to be safe havens for potential victims of human trafficking.

Activists say the issues are a global epidemic that affect both men and women in every country. They say victims no longer have to turn to the government or police for help.

The NYC Faith-Based Coalition held training on Tuesday in Williamsbridge. The training consisted of lectures on reading the signs of domestic violence, knowing what resources are available, and getting a general background of the impact domestic violence and human trafficking have on communities.

The Not On My Watch movement started this year. The hope of the citywide tour is that faith communities become more aware and more open to helping these victims.
