Fair Lawn police are warning residents of an increase in car thefts, especially for cars left unlocked.

Police shared video on social media from a recent burglary that showed where thieves broke into a car before getting away.

Officials are reminding residents to always lock their car and house doors. Also, they say to never keep valuables like wallets, phones and laptops in your car.

Police also recommend having a camera system that can save recordings.
