The cousin of a woman who was fatally stabbed inside her Wakefield home spoke exclusively with News 12 about her loss.
News 12 previously reported 40-year-old Bronx mother Tamara Rowe was fatally stabbed inside her Wakefield home nearly two weeks ago.
Loved ones of Tamara Rowe laid her to rest at funeral services Friday in East Flatbush.
“We hear about situations like this, but when it reaches our doorstep, it is very hard for us to to accept," said her cousin, Lotanya Datton.
Police say Rowe was stabbed in the arm and chest, and later died at the hospital.
Police have since arrested Khaleel Cooper in connection to the incident.
Sources tell News 12 Cooper was Rowe's partner and the father of her two young children.
Neighbors tell News 12 they never noticed any issues between Rowe and Cooper. Sources say he was Rowe's partner and father to their two young children.
Datton tells News 12 the family is thinking of starting a foundation in Rowe's honor.
“We want women to know that if you ever find yourself in situations like this to always speak up," said Datton.
Datton says Rowe was the sunshine in everyone's life
“She's always smiling. She's like a flower. If it's dried up and she passes, everything's light up. She's always the life of the party. Tamara we really miss you. And we are all very broken. We are broken beyond words," said Rowe.
