The former head football coach at Sachem High School North has been arrested for allegedly stealing funds from the school district by filing falsified claims of time worked.
The Suffolk District Attorney's Office says Dave Falco submitted a claim form to the district that said he was working in the weight room when he actually was not.
Falco allegedly received nearly $6,000 from the district that he was not entitled to. Court documents say it took place from December 2017 through June 2018.
He is facing two felony charges for grand larceny and filing false documents.
Falco was the head football coach at Sachem North for 16 years.
Sachem Central School District Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Graham released a statement in response, saying, "The district has been notified that David Falco, a physical education teacher at Sachem High School North, has been arrested. Mr. Falco has been reassigned to home pending the outcome of the legal process. This is an ongoing investigation and the district is continuing to cooperate with law enforcement authorities."
Falco was released on his own recognizance after his arraignment. He is due back in court in January.
