Police say jealousy may have led a retired New York City cop from West Babylon to shoot an off-duty officer before taking his own life.
Cecil Ramsay, 51, was found dead outside his Governor Avenue home Saturday morning. He apparently thought his wife, Dady Belfort, also an NYPD cop, was cheating on him with another officer.
Police say Ramsay was arguing with Belfort and a friend, Officer Edwin Chittick, outside the home. The conflict culminated with Ramsay firing several rounds into a car containing Belfort and Chittick, who was hit in the hand. Ramsay then put the gun to his head and fired, police say.
Detectives believe Ramsay's wife was, in fact, not having an affair.
