A former Longwood High School teacher was arrested in California after allegations surfaced about an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Erwin Faralan, 34, was arrested Monday for allegedly having sexual contact with an underage female student. Officials said there were three incidents between 2003 and 2004, but did not divulge if they occurred on school grounds.
Faralan, who taught math and coached tennis, left Longwood High School in June 2005 and continued to teach after moving out west with his wife, officials said. Police said the student came forward about one year after Faralan left the school.
"He wasn't running," Suffolk Police Det. Sgt. Gene Bragnoli said. "I'm quite sure he was hoping he was far enough away, but eventually everything catches up with you."
