School officials say the man once named "state principal of the year" will return to Hempstead High School as an attempt to try and get grades up.
Reginald Stroughn was given the honor in 2008.
Stroughn has been re-hired as executive principal of Hempstead High School, according to Newsday.
Hempstead's graduation rate is down to 38 percent, under Stroughn it was 59 percent.
