If Eversource is your utility provider, your electric bill is going up in the new year.

The company says the cost of electricity it purchases will be 13% higher on Jan. 1 compared to a year ago.

As a result, the standard supply charge on bills will rise by about 3 cents per kilowatt hour.

Eversource is urging customers to lock in lower rates through the EnergizeCT.com platform.

Meanwhile, United Illuminating says it expects its supply charges to remain virtually unchanged from last winter.
