An Elmont High School student is on her way to becoming a Broadway star.

Ekele Ukegbu won Best Actress at the 11th annual Jimmy Awards Monday night.

The ceremony showcases the best musical theater high school students from around the country.

Ekele beat out 86 other nominees.

Last year's winner was also a Long Islander, Andrew Barth Feldman from Woodmere.

Feldman is currently starring as the title character in Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway.
